Despite Dead Space selling fairly well for a new IP, and Dead Space 2 selling really well, Electronic Arts is looking to expand the series in new directions.
Speaking with Kotaku, an employee of Visceral Games said that the studio was told by EA that it must find more ways to make the series more successful. Because of this, the studio is working on a first-person shooter set in the Dead Space franchise, as well as a flight-based game. This is in addition to an Uncharted-like game.
Even with all of these games, the studio is still working on Dead Space 3, which is said to be set on a cold, icy planet, and may end the story arc revolving around Isaac Clarke, the protagonist of the first two main games in the series. This is after EA nearly canceled the game due to it supposedly not selling as well as other games, such as Uncharted.
None of these games may ever surface, however; the company may not approve them for release. Regardless, if they turn out to be real, it could be very interesting to see how they incorporate the series’ trademark gore and dismemberment, especially in the flight game.
