Microsoft’s big white box has always struggled to find an audience in the land of the rising sun, so it comes as no surprise that Konami’s next big Metal Gear title won’t be released for the platform there.

Raiden’s upcoming game will be a Sony exclusive in Japan.
While Konami has not given any reason for choosing not to release the game on Xbox 360 in Japan, it could be due to the system’s lackluster install base. As of June 2011, only 1.5 million Xbox 360 consoles had been sold in Japan; meanwhile, over 25.4 million units were sold in the United States by March 2011. While the game is only being sold for PlayStation 3 in Japan, it will be sold on both consoles in the western hemisphere.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance releases February 19, 2013 in North America, and February 21 in Europe and Japan.
