One of the first big Nintendo 3DS titles was an enhanced port of the Nintendo 64 classic The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The handheld version of the action-adventure game brought many improvements– not just visually, but also gameplay-wise, with many once-frustrating mechanics alleviated. Today, Nintendo announced that it’s giving the same treatment to Ocarina of Time‘s follow-up, Majora’s Mask.
The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D is a new version of one of the more dark entries in the Zelda franchise. As seen in the announcement trailer above, the game features enhanced visuals over the original Nintendo 64 version. In addition, during today’s Nintendo Direct, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata stated that the game still features the same level of difficulty as the original version, but will be more accessible than before, possibly meaning that the control adjustments and touch-screen interface from Ocarina of Time 3D are making a return. Aside from the improved visuals and controls, the game seems to be largely unchanged, with even its soundtrack staying the same, similar to the way Ocarina of Time 3D was treated.
The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D will be released exclusively for Nintendo 3DS in Spring 2015.
