While there was little doubt that a third Dragon Age game was in the works due to the success of the first two releases, fans can now rest assured as Dragon Age III has been announced by BioWare and Electronic Arts.
Dragon Age III: Inquisition is the third main installment of BioWare’s role-playing game series, and is currently in development by much of the same team that created Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age II. While few details about the game have been announced, BioWare has stated that the team is developing a brand new engine for use in the game, and that it is using EA DICE’s Frostbite 2 engine as a base, which is also utilized in Battlefield 3 and Medal of Honor: Warfighter. The engine will allow for “a more expansive world, better visuals, more reactivity to player choices, and more customization.”
Release platforms for the game have yet to be announced.
