Those who love AMC’s interpretation of The Walking Dead but weren’t fans of last year’s comic-based Telltale series won’t have to wait long for a game based on the former, as Activision has announced that The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct releases this March.
While Telltale Games’ episodic adventure series focused more on the original comic series’ universe, Terminal Reality’s upcoming first-person survival game is instead a prequel to the hit television series currently being broadcast on AMC in North America. The story revolves around Daryl Dixon and his brother, Merle, as they venture to Atlanta, Georgia. Along the way, the duo must gather resources, and if possible, avoid encounters with zombies – referred to in the series as “walkers” – in order to make it through unscathed.
While the game was previously only known to be available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, Activision and Terminal Reality announced today that Survival Instinct will also be released for the recently launched Wii U console. The Wii U edition of the game will give players constant access to the in-game backpack via the GamePad’s touch screen, allowing them to drop items and swap weapons without having to access menus.
The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct releases in North America on March 26, and in Europe on March 29.
