The Games
Five games have been announced for launch date in North America:
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – releasing on day one alongside the Wii U version; Switch version confirmed 720p on handheld and 900p on TV with improved visuals and performance over the Wii U version
- 1-2 Switch – a two-player party game using only the Joy-Con controllers
- Super Bomberman R
- Skylanders: Imaginators
- Just Dance 2017
In addition, several other games have been confirmed for a 2017 release on Switch:
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – April 28; includes all DLC from the original game, new characters (Dry Bones, Bowser Jr., Inklings, and King Boo), an expanded Battle Mode, 1080p60 presentation on TV, and the ability to carry two items
- Arms – Spring 2017; fighting game optionally using the Joy-Con controllers, with characters having extendable arms
- Splatoon 2 – Summer 2017; sequel to the hit Wii U game, with new weapons and maps and both local and online multiplayer
- Super Mario Odyssey – Holiday 2017; a more open Mario game in the style of 64 and Sunshine, taking place outside the Mushroom Kingdom
- Snipperclips – March 2017; dynamic co-op puzzle game from Nintendo
- I Am Setsuna – March 2017
- Has-Been Heroes – March 2017
- Puyo Puyo Tetris – Spring 2017
- Rime – Spring 2017
- Disgaea 5 Complete – Spring 2017
- The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ – Spring 2017
- Redout – Spring 2017
- The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim – Fall 2017; will not be the Special Edition
- Xenoblade Chronicles 2
- Minecraft
- Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers
- FIFA
- NBA 2K18
- Sonic Mania
- Steep
- Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2
And finally, several other games have been confirmed but have unannounced release dates:
- Yooka-Laylee
- Stardew Valley
- Shovel Knight
- Shin Megami Tensei
- Fire Emblem Warriors
- Project Octopath Traveler – new RPG from the Bravely Default team at Square Enix
- Tales of series game
- Dragon Quest X
- Dragon Quest XI
- Dragon Quest Heroes I & II
- No More Heroes sequel (possible)
Nintendo has confirmed that there are 80+ third-party games in active development already for Switch, and in the coming weeks there will be more announcements. A Fire Emblem Direct has already been set for January 18 at 5pm EST, likely to share more details on the Fire Emblem Warriors spinoff from Tecmo Koei.
