One of gaming’s most “fabled” titles is The Last Guardian, the third game from the team originally led by Fumito Ueda. Announced in 2009, the game had several showings before going dark after 2011, which led to years of concern from fans, and several rumors of cancellation. Those rumors were squashed tonight, however, as the game made its grand reappearance during Sony’s E3 press conference with a new gameplay trailer and a platform switch.
The new footage, seen above, depicts the game’s protagonist – a young boy – and a now-infamous gryphon-like creature traversing through what seems to be an abandoned temple. The two work in tandem to solve puzzles and cross chasms, with the gryphon helping to save the boy from falling at several points.
The Last Guardian will be released at some point in 2016. While the game was originally revealed for PlayStation 3, it is now a PlayStation 4 exclusive.
