It would seem that for this holiday season, Sony is almost entirely counting on PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale to bring in revenue for the company. As it is the company’s big holiday title, it needs to be as perfect as possible by the time it releases in October, so naturally, a public beta will soon be available for players to try.
At the moment, a closed beta is underway for PlayStation 3, with select members of the PlayStation community being emailed beta codes. This will continue for several weeks, after which the beta will be available to all PlayStation Network users. The public beta will run during the weeks leading up to the game’s release on October 23, and will include such characters as Kratos (God of War), Sweet Tooth (Twisted Metal), PaRappa the Rapper, Colonel Radec (Killzone), Sly Cooper, and Fat Princess. Levels featured will include Dreamscape (LittleBigPlanet), Metropolis (Ratchet & Clank), Sandover Village (Jak and Daxter), and Hades (God of War).
PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale is in development for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita by SuperBot Entertainment, with assistance from God of War developers SCE Santa Monica Studio. The Vita version is being ported by Bluepoint Games, who also handled the 2006 shooter Blast Factor.
