Japan has become infamous for providing quirky video games, featuring such mechanics as rolling entire cities around a ball and taking care of a fish with the face of a human. Earlier this summer, another odd title was released by Sony Computer Entertainment that saw players surviving post-apocalyptic Tokyo as animals. Sony has now announced that the PlayStation 3 title, Tokyo Jungle, will be released in North America next month.
In Tokyo Jungle, players assume control of various animals – ranging from giant tyrannosaurs to tiny Pomeranians – and play through one of two modes. The game’s story mode sees players taking on missions, and eventually learning the truth behind mankind’s extinction. Meanwhile, survival mode allows players to simply fight other animals and survive for as long as possible. Leaderboards are available for the latter mode, giving players a chance to see how they stack up against worldwide competition.
Those who are looking for an action-adventure game that allows them to pit puppies against lions won’t have to wait long. The game will be released in North America on September 25 for $14.99. The game will be sold exclusively through the PlayStation Network.

I came really close to importing this the other month just because it looked so ridiculous. I’m glad it’s coming out in English!
It looks pretty fun, I might end up getting it. The Pomeranians are so cute! 😛
