Last year’s Resident Evil: Revelations was seen by many as a return to what made older Resident Evil titles so good, with more of a focus on horror and resource conservation. In fact, it’s one of my favorite games of 2012. Later this year, the former 3DS exclusive is coming to home consoles.
This May, Capcom will release Resident Evil: Revelations on a variety of platforms, including Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and PC. The new edition of the game will feature upgraded visuals and lighting effects, as well as new playable Raid Mode characters such as Resident Evil 2‘s HUNK. In addition to bonus characters, the re-release will include a new enemy, a new difficulty level, and new weapons and custom parts for use in Raid Mode.
Regarding online features, the game will include online support for Raid Mode, with up to two players able to play through the mode’s various levels. Revelations on consoles will also support ResidentEvil.net integration, with online events offered to users who link their RE.net accounts to the game. Users who pre-register on RE.net beginning on January 24 will be given early access to Revelations-themed content.
Resident Evil: Revelations will be released on May 21 in North America, and May 24 in Europe. Disc versions of the game will be available at retail for $49.99 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii U, while the game will be offered as a digital download on PlayStation 3 and PC at launch, with digital Xbox 360 and Wii U releases to follow afterwards.
