While Telltale Games might be best known for its episodic series based on The Walking Dead, it has also worked on a crossover poker game featuring several big-name gaming characters. That game is receiving a sequel this month in the form of Poker Night 2.
Like Poker Night at the Inventory, Poker Night 2 features several completely unrelated characters in one comedic poker game. While the first game featured characters such as Team Fortress 2‘s Heavy Weapons Guy, Max from Sam & Max, and even Tycho from Penny Arcade, Poker Night 2 shifts its focus to a new cast of characters: Sam & Max‘s Sam, Claptrap from Borderlands, Ash Williams from The Evil Dead film series, and Brock Samson from Adult Swim’s The Venture Bros. animated series. In addition, the game’s dealer is none other than Portal‘s homicidal computer GLaDOS.
In terms of new features, the game allows players to play both Texas Hold ‘Em and Omaha styles of poker. The game also introduces “Bounty Unlocks”: depending on the platform the game is played on, completing certain in-game objectives unlocks new items outside of the game. The Xbox 360 version features unlockable themes, the PlayStation 3 edition features unlockable dynamic themes, and the PC versions let players unlock new items for use in Valve’s Team Fortress 2.
Poker Night 2 is set for release later this month on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Steam, with the game playable on Windows and OS X.
