We’re halfway through 2013 and some of the year’s best games have already come out, but it seems we still have so many to look forward to. With an entire six months left of the year and some of the biggest releases still on the horizon, there are ten games in particular I’m most looking forward to. These games are all great titles with promising showings at E3 and online and I can’t wait to see how they turn out!

One of the most unique releases coming out this year, The Wonderful 101 looks to be a promising new series for Nintendo.
The Wonderful 101 looks like a fantastic and exciting new game. I’m still not 100% sure on what it’s all about, but it looks good and seems like a fun time. It’ll be great to experience something different when things are becoming so repetitive and bland.
Batman: Arkham Origins is shaping up to be possibly the best entry into the Arkham series yet. New villains, a new story, and a new developer should give the series some extra oomph and give us another great tale with the Dark Knight.
I used to play A Link to the Past for hours upon hours when I was younger. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds looks to give back some of that gameplay back to those of us that remember the fun of that original title. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing how the game turns out.
I didn’t get to play Donkey Kong Country Returns, but I am probably the biggest fan of the original three Donkey Kong Country games on the SNES. This one looks to add some more fun to everyone’s favorite ape and it’s a must-buy for me this year. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze may not be what everyone wanted from Retro, but you can never go wrong with some Donkey Kong.
I skipped the first two Pikmin games and never felt like I could get into the gameplay, but maybe Pikmin 3 is a good way to springboard into the series. It looks great, looks fun, and I’m definitely looking forward to checking out the game when it comes out.
Super Mario 3D World is gonna be a total blast when you’ve got friends over. A co-op Mario experience like this could work out so well and I’m in anticipation to see what the verdict on this one is going to be.

Pokemon X & Y looks like a great boost to the series, which admittedly has become stagnant in recent releases.
A brand new Pokémon game is just what the doctor ordered, especially when the entire series is being flipped on its head with 3D elements and an entirely new approach to the gameplay. I’ve tried to keep my nose out of news about Pokémon X & Y so I can go in fresh and blind, but this one is going to be a buy-day-one if the forecast seems positive for the reinvention of the series.
It’s been awhile since I dove into Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, but I had trouble putting it down. I skipped Bowser’s Inside Story, but Mario & Luigi: Dream Team is going to be an awesome addition to my 3DS collection. I’ve heard nothing but positive responses from those that have played it early and I am excited to see what fun Mario and Luigi get up to.
I’m a huge fan of the LEGO games, but LEGO Marvel Super Heroes may give me the best experience from them yet. It’s an ambitious and wild adventure with tons of new LEGO characters from X-Men to the Fantastic Four. I just can’t wait to pit Marvel legends like the Hulk against Mr. Fantastic or Howard the Duck against Stan Lee. It’s an easy purchase for me, but I’ll need to recover from my recent LEGO game binge to truly appreciate this one.

Calling it: GOTY 2013 material right here, guaranteed.
Finally, Grand Theft Auto V, which I’ve been waiting a long time for. GTA IV was an awesome experience, full of great moments and characters, but GTA V is already looking like it will end up as my favorite game in the series. Hopefully it lives up to the hype because I’m already positive it will be my personal game of the year. From a gameplay video and a trailer, I already feel myself immersed in the grandiose world of Grand Theft Auto.
The shocking part about my list is that I still don’t own a Wii U or 3DS, despite the majority of my list containing games exclusive to these consoles. You may ask why, but to me, Nintendo’s lineup is absolutely killer this holiday season. With so many great releases coming out and recently released, it’s going to be very tough to resist picking up both Nintendo systems. I’m glad that I’m so excited about Nintendo again. Their 1-UP finally kicked in and they’re back to take names and get me to spend quite a lot of money.
What are your most anticipated games for the rest of 2013? Will any of these games get you to purchase a console just to play them? Whatever you’re excited for, you can be sure 4P will be there to cover your favorite games from the Xbox 360 to the Wii U. Stay tuned.
I’m looking forward to pretty much everything you listed except GTA V and the Lego game.
Batman: Arkham Origins and Pokemon X and Y are what I’m looking forward to the most.
From that last, I’m looking forward to:
But, from what I’ve seen it also looks promising. I like the story idea. I like the look of Batman (kinda Arkham Asylum/City classic look with the practicality of armour from the Nolan trilogy). Gameplay-wise, it looks to have fine-tuned and fixed up some of the things that bothered me about Arkham City. So… I’m optimistic despite the changes.
Batman: Arkham Origins – I love the original Arkham Asylum game. I like the sequel too, although I think it has some flaws that put it below its predecessor. I was at first wary of this new game. It is made by a different development team, the voice talent is gome, the script writer is gone, etc. No Hamill, Conroy, Sorkin, or Dini – so all the Animated Series connections are out the window.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds – It is a Zelda game and I am TRIFORCE89. I may hate it (the original A Link to the Past is far far far from one of my favourite games – Zelda or otherwise), but it is a Zelda game so I am looking forward to it.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze – I wish Retro’s talents were on something else, but DKCR was an exceptionally solid platformer. It was fantastic and I welcome a sequel. And hey DK can swim now.
Pikmin 3 – The first Pikmin game is an absolute masterpiece. It is one of the best games I ever played and will likely forever be one of my all time favourites. I was dissapointed with the sequel. Pikmin 3 gets rid of what I didn’t like in the sequel and introduces a few new ideas. It looks impressive and I’m looking forward to playing it.
Super Mario 3D World – Anything made by Nintendo EAD Tokyo is just simply pure gold. Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat, the Super Mario Galaxy games, and Super Mario 3D Land – this is a stellar track record. Not sure why it isn’t on the 3DS, but I’m sure it’ll be great fun. Especially with co-op.
Pokémon X & Y – I’ve liked a lot of what I’ve seen so far. A new type should mix things up a bit. I’m glad we have 3D battles finally. Just…overall it looks like they’re putting a lot of effort into it.
