Much to the disappointment of 3DS owners and Mega Man fans everywhere, Capcom announced yesterday that it has ceased development of the highly-anticipated Mega Man Legends 3.
In an FAQ posted on Capcom-Unity, the developers reassured fans that the Mega Man series will still continue, but there are no plans to restart the Legends 3 project anytime in the future. The only reason given for the cancellation is that ” it was not felt that the Mega Man Legends 3 Project met the required criteria” to go into full production.
This is yet another blow to beleaguered 3DS owners, who just in the past couple weeks have dealt with news of several third party setbacks, including Cave Story 3D and Crush3D, which has been put on hold indefinitely until 3DS sales pick up. Weaker-than-expected adoption of the 3DS is causing many companies to hold back, and quite likely in the case of Capcom and Legends 3, completely abandon their 3DS projects until sales pick up.
