There’s no denying that in the past, watching YouTube videos on a PlayStation 3 was a bit painful. Not only did users have to use the console’s relatively broken web browser, but they also were forced to watch videos at extremely low resolutions, which look downright ugly on modern televisions. Thankfully, the folks at Sony and YouTube have been listening to complaints, and are finally releasing a downloadable YouTube application for the system.

The free app, which will be released today, will have several useful features for users:
- Users can search for videos and receive results as they type. In addition, search suggestions will appear while typing.
- Signing into a YouTube account allows users to view their latest subscriptions, including official music videos.
- Pairing a smartphone with the console allows users to use it as a remote for the YouTube app. Users can control the video from their phone, or begin searching for a new video to watch.
The app has currently only been announced for North America.
