Namco Bandai has announced that it will be dissolving its Namco Tales Studio on January 1, following a board approval on November 29.
Namco Tales Studio, formed in 1986 under the name Wolf Team, has been the primary developer for Namco’s Tales series of video games ever since the first game in the series, Tales of Phantasia. Their latest release, Tales of Xillia, was released for the PlayStation 3 in September in Japan, while two of their previous games, Tales of the Abyss and Tales of Graces F, are set to be released early next year in North America and Europe for the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation 3, respectively.
While the studio is indeed being dissolved, its staff are expected to be absorbed into Namco Bandai itself, with little to no changes in the development of future games, such as Tales of Innocence R for the PlayStation Vita, and Tales of the Heroes: Twin Brave for the PlayStation Portable.
