The PlayStation Network is being restored right now – it’s already available along most of the East Coast of the US and California. Some services, such as the PlayStation Store, will still be unavailable, but online gaming and several other features, listed below, are being restored in this update.
- Online gameplay
- PlayStation Home
- Friends features – friends list, chat, etc.
- Trophies
- Netflix, Hulu, and other third-party services
- Qriocity Music Unlimited
- Rental video content playback
The restoration is being rolled out on a regional basis throughout the night. To check if your state has PSN now, refer to this map on the official PlayStation blog.
In order to sign in, you’ll need to download firmware update 3.61, which is available now everywhere regardless of PSN status. So if you don’t have PSN yet, you might as well go on and download the update so that you can sign in when service is restored in your area. As Sony has stated previously, the firmware update will force a password reset the first time you sign into PSN.
