It’s been a while since Capcom last announced a new Mega Man game, but at last, they have done just that. It may be a bit different than what some fans were expecting, however.
Mega Man Xover is an upcoming game in development for iOS 4.0 devices, specifically the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, and all iPod touch models beginning with the fourth generation. The game is described as a “social RPG” that features heroes and villains from the Mega Man, Mega Man X, Mega Man Zero, Mega Man ZX, Mega Man Battle Network, Mega Man Star Force, and Mega Man Legends series. While few gameplay details have been given, players will be able to create their own characters to face off against such villains as Dr. Wily and Sigma.
While it may not be the game that some Mega Man fans were expecting, it could very well turn out to be a decent entry in a series that has been relatively dead as of late. Mega Man Xover releases in Japan this fall, with a release in North America and Europe also planned.
