Following the sad news of Nintendo Power‘s end, there is some good news for fans of the big red / grey giant: Nintendo is set to announce the Wii U’s release date and price next month.
Nintendo has sent invites to various press members for an event to be held on September 13 in New York City. The event will, according to Nintendo, show “more about how the Wii U will change the future of gaming and entertainment.” Expected to be revealed are the console’s release date – rumored to be sometime in November for North America, and elsewhere in December – and its pricing. The company may also reveal the system’s launch lineup, which currently includes such games as New Super Mario Bros. U, Assassin’s Creed III, and Darksiders II.
With the rising success of the Nintendo 3DS, and the upcoming release of the Wii U, it’s a good time to be a Nintendo fan. 4P Games will bring you more Wii U information as it arrives.

I really wish we could have release date announcements that weren’t within a few weeks of the actual release date. It wouldn’t normally be so bad for them to crop up a month or two later but we don’t even know the general price range of this console. Nintendo does know that most people need to save up for big ticket items like consoles… right?
