Despite a past rumor stating that a sequel to 2010’s Bayonetta had been canceled, Nintendo has announced that Platinum Games’ black-haired heroine is indeed making a return, and only on Wii U.
While little has been revealed about Bayonetta 2, development will be supervised by Hideki Kamiya, the creator of such titles as Ōkami and Viewtiful Joe, while the game’s director is Yusuke Hashimoto. The game will be published by Nintendo, and overseen by SEGA, who owns the rights to the series. The game’s first trailer can be seen above.
A release date for the game has yet to be announced.

Why is it exclusive!? Bayonetta was an okay game and I did enjoy it a fair bit so I was ready to pick up the sequel. But… not if it’s exclusive to a new console. It’s not the kind of game *anyone* will rush out and buy a Wii U for. Considering the original was multiplatform, it seems so strange to me that they’d make it an exclusive on… the only system its predecessor didn’t come out on.
Well, they might be making the game to take full advantage of the GamePad or something. It could be a game that simply can’t be played on other consoles with how they’re developing it.
