Sony’s PlayStation 3 has already been through two models this generation, and the company is set to release yet another revision next week.
The new PlayStation 3 model is 20% less voluminous than the current slim PlayStation 3, and weighs 25% less than said model. Overall, the console has less than half the size and weight of the original PlayStation 3, released in 2006.
The new PlayStation 3 will be sold in several bundles in North America. The first bundle, priced at $249.99, will include a black PlayStation 3 with 250 gigabytes of storage, a black DualShock 3 controller, a copy of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception – Game of the Year Edition, and over $30 worth of content for downloadable shooter Dust 514. The bundle will be available for purchase on September 25.
Meanwhile, the second bundle is an updated version of the Assassin’s Creed III bundle announced at E3 in June. This bundle will include a black PlayStation 3 with 500 gigabytes of storage, a black DualShock 3 controller, and a copy of Assassin’s Creed III, which features four exclusive levels over the Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC versions. The Assassin’s Creed III bundle will be sold for $299.99, and will be released alongside the game on October 30.
