Disney has officially shuttered the developers of the Epic Mickey franchise, Junction Point Studios, the company confirmed in a statement to Joystiq today. Warren Spector, the company’s outspoken founder, will also be departing as part of the closure.
The recently released Epic Mickey 2 released in November to mediocre critical reception and sold far less than Disney anticipated – only 529,000 units in North America across all platforms.

It should’ve remained exclusive to Nintendo. Going multiplatform is the reason it didn’t sell nearly as much as they thought.
While I’m happy there are no more Epic Mickey games, it’s always sad to see a studio close down.
How come you’re happy about the series essentially being guaranteed for discontinuation? I haven’t played them myself, but I heard that the first game was a decent platformer, at the very least. I wouldn’t mind trying it sometime.
