On February 20, Sony will announce new details regarding “the future of PlayStation.”
Today, the company uploaded a video titled “#PlayStation2013” to its PlayStation YouTube channel. The video, seen above, is largely scarce on details. However, it does present a date for the reveal: February 20, 2013. In addition, the company launched a webpage for the “meeting,” which specifies that the event will be held at 6:00 PM EST.
The most popular conclusion to jump to – and possibly the most likely event – is that the company is planning to unveil preliminary details of its next PlayStation home console, which would be the first new home console to be released by Sony since the PlayStation 3’s launch in late 2006. With Nintendo’s Wii U launch last November, many are expecting both Sony and Microsoft to release their own next-generation consoles either this year or the next. This could be the beginning of the next phase in the “next-gen console race.”
