It was all but officially confirmed after Jesse McCartney made a bit of a slip-up last month on Twitter and Instagram, but now, Square Enix has finally announced that it is indeed releasing Kingdom Hearts I.5 HD ReMIX in North America and Europe later this year.
Kingdom Hearts I.5 HD ReMIX is a compilation of several Kingdom Hearts games, including PlayStation 2 classics Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories. Each game has been remastered and enhanced with improved controls, high-definition visuals, and trophy support. In addition, the collection features scenes remastered and recreated from the Nintendo DS title Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days. I.5 HD ReMIX is noteworthy due to the fact that Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix was previously a Japan-exclusive version of Kingdom Hearts that features additional bosses and cutscenes, while Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories, a remake of the Game Boy Advance’s Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, has never seen a European release.
A release of the collection outside of Japan was in question until late last month, when Jesse McCartney, the English voice actor of 358/2 Days lead Roxas, stated that he was reprising his role as the character. Alongside his message, he released a photo of his recording booth, with a television displaying the “movie” version of 358/2 Days seen in the background.
Kingdom Hearts I.5 HD ReMIX will be released exclusively for PlayStation 3 this fall in North America and Europe. The compilation will be released in Japan on March 14.
