Hideo Kojima announced during Konami’s pre-E3 show that HD collections of Metal Gear Solid and Zone of the Enders will be coming to PS3 and Xbox 360. The MGS collection features Metal Gear Solid 2, 3, and Peace Walker, while the Zone of the Enders collection features Zone of the Enders 1 and 2. The PS3 version of both titles will support Transfarring, a new feature created by Kojima to allow quick transferring of saves from the PS3 to the PSP, so that you can continue playing your game when you’re away from home. Kojima hopes to include Transfarring in his future titles and eventually support NGP/PS3 transfers.
The HD collections feature many improvements over the originals, including:
- Optimized and rebuilt for the PS3/360
- New user interface for HD resolutions
- Redrawn hi-res 2D art, effects, and fonts
- Trophies and achievements
- Right analog stick and force feedback support
- Transfarring
- Improved audio quality
The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will be available in November 2011. Zone of the Enders HD Collection will follow in 2012.
Konami also announced an HD collection of Silent Hill featuring the second and third games in the series, as well as Silent Hill: Book of Memories for NGP. No other details were given.

I need to finish MGS2 and 3 before that HD collection comes out so that I don’t feel guilty about waiting so long to play them that I could have played a better version. <_<
I have the Essential Collection but I still need to play all of them. My aversion to stealth games isn’t helping.
The only reason I got through it was by playing with a friend and passing the controller back and forth. @_@
I started the game, crawled out very slowly from the starting area, heard a guard yell “WHO’S THERE?!”, ran back to the starting area, and turned the game off. XD
I don’t mean to alarm you, but I think you may suck at stealth games.
I always wanted to try out this series. HD is great, but I’m not going to start with the second entry in the series. I want to start with the first one, and so I will continue to ignore these games :c
Maybe I should hunt down the GCN remake of the first one.
