Up next will be EA; any ideas on what they have planned for the show?
G: EA will definitely spend an ungodly amount of time on sports games, during which we will all nap.
R: That’s the plan.
[laughter]
K: What do they have to offer us this year?
R: Mirror’s Edge 2, Battlefront, Battlefield Hardline… How will Mirror’s Edge 2 turn out? Either really well or EA will ruin what made the original great. Imagine…’Pay $3 to unlock the ability to parkour vertically!’ or ‘Pay $2 to disable QTEs!’ I am excited for the story, but still.
G: Battlefront will be front and center for EA’s, I think. I never got around to playing the first Mirror’s Edge; I couldn’t watch the trailer last year. Those tattoos freaked me out.
R: Battlefront, I predict will have gameplay shown in some form, while Hardline will definitely have a demonstration from Visceral. EA Sports will show us how advanced they’re making sweat mechanics.
[laughter]
G: EA is always so boring.
R: Not always.
G: …always. But the Sims 4 should make an appearance.
K: I skipped the Sims 3 due to the microtransaction nonsense, but 4 looks like it’s improving most components of the series.
R: Maybe a Battlefield 4 expansion? Or possibly a trailer for an expansion?
K: They’ll be announcing that they’re finally releasing a complete and unbroken Battlefield 4 experience. I think Mass Effect in some form is the only thing that would make EA’s presentation better. Though their lineup is fairly strong this year.
R: As long as they don’t ‘Battlefield-ize’ Star Wars: Battlefront, I’ll be happy.
G: People have been clamoring for a new Battlefront anyway, but the fact that DICE is developing it makes me feel that they’ll go the Battlefield route.
R: We can only hope not.
Ubisoft is following EA, so what are we expecting from them?
K: Well, we’re obviously going to be seeing Assassin’s Creed: Unity and Comet. More likely than not, just a trailer for Comet.
R: Unity is apparently going to have four player co-op. I’m guessing Sony will show that off, but Ubisoft will cover the single player.
G: Think they’ll do any followup on Watch_Dogs? DLC?
R: Maybe during their sales talk, but probably not much else. Maybe a DLC trailer.
K: They’ll announce DLC. Push some sort of advanced hacking abilities or an extension of the campaign. Nothing worth tuning in for by itself.
R: Far Cry 4 will probably have a demo.
G: Most definitely. Will we finish the conference with an ominous you-are-being-watched conspiratorial mystery game for the third year running?
R: Maybe Rainbow Six: Patriots?
G: Just what we need…another military shooter.
R: The Division? Just Dance? I feel like they won’t show The Division…
K: You’re probably right. Still early in development, but we did get that gameplay ‘demo’ last year.
G: Just Dance, definitely. And Rabbids!
R: Oh boy. No more Rabbids, please!
G: The biggest question of all though…will Aisha Tyler have her girlwood t-shirt on this year?
[laughter]
