Another day, another rumor regarding a game’s cancellation. This time, the rumor in question is regarding Sony’s fabled The Last Guardian, and thankfully, it’s already been debunked. Roughly one hour prior to this writing, gaming news website IGN ran a story stating that “an internal source speaking to IGN Russia” learned the game was cancelled during an internal meeting at Sony last week. However, less than an hour after the story was published, Scott Rohde – a software development head at Sony Worldwide Studios America – tweeted the following message:
@notaxation @yosp and I laughed at this rumor over dinner. The Last Guardian has NOT been cancelled. — Scott Rohde (@RohdeScott) June 8, 2014
There you have it, Ueda fans: The Last Guardian is still alive in some way, shape, or form. Whether or not it’s still a PlayStation 3 game remains to be seen, but for the time being, we can be content with knowing that the game is still coming.
