Yet Another Update: Turns out there is no Vita version after all. Sony’s Shahid Kamal Ahmad has posted to his Twitter that he made an error and the game is only for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Update: Square Enix has issued a separate press release for the announcement that clarifies Final Fantasy Type-0 HD is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, in addition to PlayStation Vita.
Original story: It’s taken almost four years, but one of the PSP’s most beloved games is finally coming to English territories, as Square Enix has announced Final Fantasy Type-0 HD for PlayStation Vita.
In a post on the official PlayStation Blog, Square Enix’s Senior Product Manager Sakura Minamida announced the game with the following message:
I’d like to start this out by thanking everyone who let us know how badly you wanted this game to come to North America. Ever since the original PlayStation Portable release in Japan, you guys have never given up on it, raising your voices in an effort to see this title come to North America and Europe. Well, I’m here to tell you that it’s coming and it’s going to be in HD.
While no details regarding the extent of the HD version’s upgrades have currently been announced, an English announcement on its own should bring a huge sigh of relief to many, even on the heels of a fan-made English patch for the PSP version. 4P will bring you more information regarding the new version of Type-0 as it its made available.

I’m watching it warily but with the English patch out on the PSP now, I’m not dying to get this. I’d probably wait if this was coming out on Vita but since it’s not, I don’t care that much. I’ll pick it up if I’ve already got a PS4 by then (unlikely) but otherwise I’m in no hurry.

I had thought about downloading the patch, but I’ll just wait for this now. Considering Square’s absolutely glacial development times, this probably won’t be out before 2016 at the earliest anyway, so I should definitely have a PS4 by then.
