A slew of details about Sony’s next generation portable were unveiled tonight at Sony’s E3 media briefing. The portable, previously codenamed the NGP (Next Generation Portable), is now officially known as the PS Vita. It will come in Wi-fi and 3G/Wi-fi models, with 3G exclusively provided by AT&T. Sony will be launching the Vita during the holiday season this year at a price of $249 for the Wi-fi model and $299 for the 3G model, providing stiff competition for Nintendo’s $249 3DS.
Games shown at the conference include Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Ruin (a “social action RPG”), ModNation Racers, LittleBigPlanet, Wipeout 2048, and Street Fighter x Tekken. As the holiday season gets closer, we’ll be getting exact dates and a launch lineup.
