Last generation’s three big Final Fantasy titles are headed to PC.
Announced today via a press release, Square Enix is bringing Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIII-2, and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII – all originally released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 – to Windows PC by way of the Steam platform. While Square Enix has not given details on any potential downloadable content or new features for the games, all three games will offer Steam trading cards themed after their respective game.
Final Fantasy XIII can be pre-ordered on Steam here for $14.39, though the price will increase to $15.99 after the game’s release on October 9. The PC editions of Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will be released by Spring 2015.

This is pretty cool. It makes me hopeful that we’ll get even more PC ports. It’s not my preferred way to play Final Fantasy but it makes the series much more accessible to others and I’d looove to one day see an FF12 remaster make its way to PC because I think the controls would be phenomenal with keyboard/mouse.
I have all these games on PS3 so I don’t think I’ll be playing them on PC (LR is the only one I have left to tackle), but if they go on sale I might pick them up anyway, just to support the direction S-E is taking on this.
