Microsoft is making Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary as a “gift to its fans” to celebrate the series’ 10th anniversary. The remake of the first game will feature upgraded graphics that can be switched to the original graphics with a simple press of a button, a two-player online co-op campaign, and new informational terminals spattered throughout the campaign that will share more historical details about the Halo structure in the game. In addition, the game will feature achievements, as well as six multiplayer maps and one Firefight map based on levels from Halo 1-3 that can be imported into Halo: Reach. As we reported earlier, the game does NOT feature online multiplayer of its own besides campaign co-op.
Perhaps the best part about the anniversary tribute is the price – Microsoft will be releasing the game at a budget price of $39.99, making it more palatable for those who don’t want to pay full retail price.

Glad to hear that they learned from what happened with ODST. Still, though, the multiplayer seems a bit disappointing. I guess that it’s just because we got spoiled with ODST’s full Halo 3 multiplayer disc, but eh. Either way, I’m really looking forward to this, especially since I haven’t played through the majority of Halo 1 yet.
