Ever since its absence at E3 2015, Nintendo fans in America have been on pins and needles wondering about the fate of Koji Igarashi’s Devil’s Third. Despite the game coming out in August in the rest of the world, no North American release date has yet to be announced.
A recent video from Unseen64, an industry insider, seemed to confirm everyone’s worst fear: Nintendo of America had decided not to publish the game because it didn’t live up to their standards (a la Disaster: Day of Crisis). Igarashi himself took to Facebook to deny the news and said he would bring the game to North America no matter what, but fans still weren’t satisfied.
Finally, Nintendo of America clarified the rumors today via a tweet, confirming that the game would indeed see a North American release:
We know you are eager to hear more about Devil’s Third. We are excited to bring the game to Wii U and will have more to share soon.

Siliconera and Nintendo insider Emily Rogers have dug deeper and found that Nintendo will be cooperating with another publisher in bringing the game here; though no official word has been made, it seems possible that publisher will be XSEED. Nevertheless, the game is coming, no matter who publishes it, and the Wii U can use all the games it can get added to its rather anemic upcoming release schedule.
For those of you outside North America, you don’t have long to wait for the game. Devil’s Third will be coming to Japan on August 4, Europe on August 28, and Australia the following day.

So, the previews and reviews coming in from multiple sources are indicating that game is drab and mediocre.
And now XSEED is having second thoughts due to the game’s quality
I maintain that if this game sees release in North America, it’ll be digital only. Why spend money on a production run for a game that no one will buy or enjoy if they do?
