Be it Marathon, Myst, Oni, or Halo, Bungie has created some of the most well-received games in the industry, and now, its new game has been revealed.
According to Bungie’s contract with Activision, the game is code-named “Destiny,” and is set for release in fall of 2013 for the Xbox 360, with a PlayStation 3 version landing in fall of 2014 if such a version can be developed at a high quality. In addition, a PC release is also being considered, as well as a release on the next Xbox console. There are four planned games in the “sci-fantasy, action shooter” series. Expansions for the four games are set for release in 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2020, and have been collectively code-named “Comet.”
In addition, Bungie’s contract mentioned that the studio will be allowed to create a new game in the Marathon series as long as no more than 5% of the studio’s staff works on the project.
While Bungie itself has stated that the game is not yet ready to be shown to the public, it is possible that a reveal could come later this year. Regardless, it sounds like Bungie fans have a lot to look forward to over the next decade.
