Monster Hunter‘s release schedule has been a bit sketchy outside of Japan for a few years now. Last year, Capcom released Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS in North America and Europe; however, the 3DS version was roughly a year and a half old at that point. Meanwhile, in September, Monster Hunter 4 for 3DS was released in Japan, with no word on a non-Japanese release. That cycle is seemingly set to continue with Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate.
Announced today, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is a re-release of last year’s Monster Hunter 4 – shocking, I know – that will presumably feature more monsters and areas than its original release. As this will be the first time the game has been released in North America and Europe, players will also be able to experience the game’s new fluid traversal system, weapons, and online multiplayer (finally!).
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate will be released in Japan this fall for Nintendo 3DS under the title Monster Hunter 4G; this version will allow players to transfer save data from the vanilla Monster Hunter 4 in order to retain progress to an extent. North American and European releases of MH4U will follow sometime in early 2015.
