Nintendo and Sega are partnering up for a couple of new Sonic releases, including not only a new Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games title, but also a new mainline Sonic platformer.

Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games is set in Sochi, Russia, the resort location for the upcoming 2014 Winter Olympics. The game will let players utilize the Wii U GamePad and Wii Remote Plus to snowboard, ski, skate, bobsleigh, and more. As with previous entries in the series, players can choose from a variety of Mario and Sonic characters to play as; however, new to the series are events set in the worlds of the two mascots – such as Isle Delfino and Speed Highway – that allow players to perform tricks and stunts not possible in real life. The game is currently set to be exclusive to Wii U.

In addition, Nintendo and Sega have announced that a new main-series Sonic action-adventure platformer is coming exclusively to Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Titled Sonic: Lost World, more information about the game will be revealed closer to this year’s E3, which will be held from June 10 to June 13.
Sega’s blue hedgehog looks to have a bright future on Nintendo’s hardware for the foreseeable future. Be sure to stick with 4P as we take a look at Lost World closer to E3, and look forward to our coverage of E3 itself next month.

Initially I misinterpreted this announcement. I thought Nintendo announced that Sega would make Sonic games exclusively for Nintendo. As in forever, not just a three-game deal.
If the Lost World game plays anything like Generations did I’ll be interested.
If Lost World sells well enough (Which it probably will, Sonic sells best on Nintendo), I’m sure the series will be pretty much exclusive to Nintendo and maybe PC/mobile.
So the debut trailer for Sonic: Lost World was released today. It looks like a combination of the gameplay that was in Generations and the level design present in the Super Mario Galaxy games. I hope it’s as great as those games.
I really enjoyed Generations. This trailer looked interesting… but, Sonic has a run button now ❓
