This week is certainly a joyous time for Assassin’s Creed fans. Not only was new downloadable content for Revelations released yesterday (Click here for our review), but now, Ubisoft has announced that details of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed III will be released in a matter of days. In fact, some of those details may have just been leaked.
On the series’s official Facebook, page, an admin posted that a “major announcement from Assassin’s Creed is only days away,” along with a note that fans should stay tuned to the series’s official website tomorrow. While Ubisoft provided no other details, they did update the page’s cover art to a previously unseen image, which can be seen above. It would seem that snow will play some sort of role in the next game’s setting.
Now for the next big piece of news. An anonymous Best Buy employee has allegedly sent Kotaku an image of concept art from the upcoming game, which was supposedly taken from a piece of promotional material sent to the company (Which confirmed a March 5 reveal of the game and pre-order bonuses, go figure). The image can be seen above, and seems to confirm that the game will be set during the American Revolution, with the main character possibly being of Native American descent. Judging by his weaponry, the game will introduce tomahawks as a usable weapon type.
Regardless of where the game is set or who it stars, it is sure to carry on the series’s addicting gameplay– while hopefully changing things up this time around. Assassin’s Creed III will be released on October 30 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
