If you’re a fan of Final Fantasy XIII-2, chances are you’re looking forward to next month’s Lightning scenario DLC. Before that, however, Square Enix is releasing one other piece of content for the game that not only features one last round in the coliseum, but also adds more story to the game.
First off, the new coliseum boss is set to be the final one made available. The battle – a fight against Valfodr – is intended to be the hardest battle yet in the coliseum, with its level being the highest of any monster seen in the game. As usual, defeating Valfodr will give you an opportunity to recruit it into your party as a Ravager.
In order to fight Valfodr, however, you must first play through Snow’s scenario. The scenario tells the story of Snow’s time at the coliseum, which is alluded to during the main game. While it will give more insight into the coliseum’s background, it will also reveal what Snow’s Focus is this time around. During the second half of the episode, Valfodr appears, and must be defeated several times; each time it is defeated, it returns with a higher level and more abilities at its disposal. In addition, Snow can be recruited as a Commando to be a member of the main game’s party.
The new DLC will be released in Japan on May 15. The other previously announced story DLC for the game, Lightning: Requiem of the Goddess, will be released later that month.
