PSone Compatibility Coming to Vita This Month

Update: Sony has announced that compatibility for PSone titles will be rolled out over time. The initial list of supported titles can be seen below.

• Final Fantasy VII
• Wild Arms
• Twisted Metal 2
• Cool Boarders 2
• Arc the Lad
• Resident Evil: Director’s Cut
• Crash Bandicoot
• Jet Moto

Original story: One of the most disappointing aspects of the PlayStation Vita is its lack of backwards compatibility with downloaded PSone titles. Thankfully, this will soon be remedied.

Sony will be releasing an update for Vita users that enables the use of PlayStation games downloaded from the PlayStation Network. This means that players can experience titles such as Final Fantasy IX, Metal Gear Solid, and Resident Evil: Director’s Cut on the Vita’s crisp OLED screen.

The update is expected to be released August 28.
