If there was any game I absolutely loved from the previous generation of gaming, it was Ōkami. Before anyone says “lol furry,” it wasn’t just me: the game received numerous awards and glowing reviews, with a composite score of 93% for the PlayStation 2 version on Metacritic. The game’s art style just begs for a glorious HD makeover, and luckily, Capcom has revealed that the game is indeed coming to the PlayStation Network this fall.
According to the Capcom Unity blog, Clover Studios’ classic will be remastered with updated visuals, Trophies, and multiple control schemes: fans of the original can use a DualShock 3 controller to play the game, while those used to the controls from Ready at Dawn’s Wii port of the game will be able to use the PlayStation Move. The game will be released as a digital title only on the PlayStation Network, priced at $19.99.
No specific release date has been announced, but the game is slated for release this fall. If you’ve been craving to return to Nippon, your time is coming.
i don’t really see how they intend to improve the graphics. or how they -can-. somebody on twitter said something about the original not having any anti-aliasing, but…that’s not gonna be a significant change.
i’m guessing they’ll add paper grain to the texture.
Anti-aliasing is definitely being added (I would think), but I can also see the environmental textures being upgraded. As for the characters, I can’t see them being changed much either; there’s not a whole lot to enhance there. Judging by the trailer they’ve released, I think the HD version is more similar to the Wii version in that the grainy filter isn’t as prominent as it was in the PS2 version. I personally like that. 😛
instead of this “hd” thing, i think they should focus mainly on it being a ps3 version that can be played like either of the previous versions depending on preference, because that’s where players are going to see the most improvement.
not that the consumer is likely to care either way, though. it’s ****ing okami. *****es love okami. :U
