Gamescom has traditionally been the location of choice for Call of Duty multiplayer reveals, and that continues this year, as Activision released the first multiplayer trailer for the game at the event earlier today.
The trailer, seen above, demonstrates the changes that developer Sledgehammer Games has made to the Call of Duty series with this year’s upcoming entry. Taking cues from Crysis and Titanfall, Advanced Warfare allows players to utilize abilities with “exosuits,” such as boost jumping, dashing, and hovering. The game’s loadout system takes a page from Call of Duty: Black Ops II with a “Pick 13” system, in which players are given thirteen “points” to equip weapons, perks, and equipment with. This allows for unique loadouts featuring no primary weapons, no perks, no weapons at all, and so on. In addition to Pick 13, Advanced Warfare features “Supply Drops,” which feature randomized custom weapons with varying levels of rarity, similarly to games like Borderlands. Finally, the game includes “virtual lobbies” in which players’ customized characters can be seen alongside other players’ characters between matches.
In addition to multiplayer news, Activision has also announced a new edition of the game, titled the “Day Zero Edition”. The new edition is only available to users who pre-order the game, and allows players early access to the game twenty-four hours before its official launch. Players who access the game during the 24-hour period will be able to earn double XP, and also earn two bonus custom weapons.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is set for release on November 4 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Windows PC. The Day Zero Edition will be available as a free upgrade for all platforms, and will be available at midnight on November 10 at select retailers and on digital download services.

I feel like if I see more of this, I may actually want a Call of Duty game again. I’d like to see some live gameplay, but this looked good for a CoD game.
