Yes, you read that right: one of the biggest names in gaming is teaming up with one of the biggest horror film directors to create a new Silent Hill game starring one of TV’s most popular actors.
Following Sony’s Gamescom briefing earlier today, a mysterious new “interactive teaser” was released for PlayStation 4 on the PlayStation Store, titled “P.T.” Developed by “7780s STUDIO,” the teaser had the following description on the store:
‘My voice, can you hear it?
This sign, can you read it?
I’ll wait forever if you’ll just come to me.’Her words – To where do they lead?
Be the first in the world to find out.*Avoid playing if you have a heart condition
Twitch and YouTube user Soapy Warpig was the first to uncover the teaser’s secret: that it was teasing a new Silent Hill game – dubbed Silent Hills or Silent Hill S – created by Metal Gear‘s Hideo Kojima alongside Pan’s Labyrinth and Blade II director Guillermo del Toro. Even more, one of the game’s characters utilizes the voice and likeness of Norman Reedus, who portrays the character Daryl Dixon in AMC’s television adaptation of The Walking Dead. The end of the teaser confirms that the game is in development at Kojima Productions and runs on the Fox Engine, utilized in Metal Gear Solid V and Pro Evolution Soccer 2014.
While Konami has yet to comment on the game’s existence, Soapy Warpig’s discovery of the game can be viewed above.
I watched a playthrough of the playable teaser. Big mistake.
I don’t play horror games, but I do watch them, and watching a playthrough of P.T. was pretty damn scary. It did eventually get annoying with all the pixel hunt stuff later on though.
Pixel hunt? Do you mean the part where you have to find the pieces of the picture?
Exactly, and the whole abstract “You must do this then this then this even though it’s totally random” aspect.
The term “pixel hunting” reminds me of Other M, which in turn makes me not really want to play the teaser.
