Borderlands 2 is one of the most anticipated titles of this year, which means gamers should expect the game to have all sorts of goodies released alongside it. In this case, such expectations have turned out to be true, as 2K Games has announced several items for fans of the series.
First up are pre-order bonuses. No matter which edition of the game you buy, or which platform you buy it for, all pre-orders come with exclusive access to the Borderlands 2 Premiere Club. This gives gamers a rare item from the Sanctuary Loot Chest, a Vault Hunter’s Relic that boosts the fortune that you and your friends amass, Gearbox-branded gold guns, and a free download of the post-release DLC character class, the Mechromancer.
For fans with more money to spend, 2K is releasing the Deluxe Vault Hunter’s Collector’s Edition. This comes with the game, a set of four stickers, a map of Pandora, a download of the game’s digital comic, a bobblehead of Marcus Kincaid, and a hardback book titled “Inside the Vault: The Art and Design of Borderlands 2.” This edition will set you back $99.99.
Finally, the most hardcore fans of the series will want to get the Ultimate Loot Chest Limited Edition. It contains all of the contents of the Deluxe Vault Hunter’s Collector’s Edition, and more: a replica of the standard Borderlands loot chest, an exclusive steelbook case for the game, four lithograph postcards, a cloth map of Pandora, a numbered certificate of authenticity, field notes from Sir Hammerlock, and a wide-format ID chart of the creatures of Pandora. Unfortunately, the set will put a big dent in your wallet, as it costs $149.99. At least it seems to be worth the price for the amount of items it includes.
Borderlands 2 is in development by Gearbox Software, and releases on September 18, 2012 in North America for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. The game will be released on September 21 in the United Kingdom.
