Electronic Arts and DICE surprised many with last year’s announcement of Battlefield 4, but tonight, both have pulled another ace out of their sleeve: a reveal trailer that features a whopping seventeen minutes of gameplay.
The “Fishing in Baku” trailer, seen above, depicts a mission from the single player campaign, the overall story of which sees a group of American soldiers attempt to return home after an evacuation in Shanghai, China. Alongside the trailer’s release, EA and DICE announced that the game will run on the brand new Frostbite 3 engine, and will incorporate several concepts from its multiplayer side in its single player campaign, including statistic and progression tracking, open environments, vehicle variety, and squadmate management.
Battlefield 4 is set for release this Fall on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC in two different editions: the standard edition, and the Digital Deluxe Edition, which is an Origin-exclusive edition of the game that includes a digital copy of the game for PC, extra in-game items, a Battlefield 4 Premium expansion pack, and access to the same multiplayer beta that will be available to Medal of Honor: Warfighter owners later this year. The Premium expansion pack will also be available to pre-ordering customers at select retailers.
