Newer Resident Evil titles such as Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil: Revelations have attracted both old and new fans to the series, but those who fall in the latter may not have had a chance to see where the survival horror series began. Thankfully, Capcom looks to change that early next year with a re-release of its 2002 remake of the first Resident Evil.
As stated before, the upcoming release is based on the 2002 remake released for Nintendo GameCube (And, later on, for Wii). The new version of the game is being enhanced for newer platforms with upgraded character models, 5.1 surround sound support, enhanced resolution support (Including 1080p for PS4, Xbox One, and PC), and additional control options that are intended to make the game easier for newcomers to play. Despite new controls being available, the rest of the game remains the same as it was in 2002, with fixed camera angles and pre-rendered backgrounds.
Resident Evil is set for release in North America and Europe in early 2015, and will be available for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
