An elite controller with an elite price
At this morning’s E3 press event, Microsoft unveiled the new Elite controller for Xbox One.
Designed for the most serious gamers, the Elite controller adds several changes to the already impressive Xbox One controller, including:
- Four removable paddles on the back that can act as normal buttons.
- Swappable joysticks, allowing you to choose between concave and convex.
- D-pad that can be swapped between a normal cross shape and a single dial style d-pad.
- Hair-trigger locks, which, when enabled, allow for quicker firing.
- App that allows for sensitivity adjustment and button reassignment.
- Stainless steel, “no-wear” components.
The Elite controller should be available sometime this year at the jaw-dropping price of $149.99.

$150 though… who the hell would ever pay that much for a standard controller? Like, I’ll admit I’ve entertained the idea of getting a custom-made controller in a colour I love but even that wouldn’t be nearly as much. These features were on third-party controllers and no way were they that expensive, right? Can this really be worth that much? In Canada it’d be half the price of an actual Xbone, if not more. W…why??
That d-pad is bizarre ❓ And the back grip buttons don’t seem like they’d feel as natural as Steam’s controller. Dunno why you would need an app for button reassignment when this can be included in a game’s menus if needed.
And why the hell is it 150 smackaroos!? Holy crap
